Online Learning at SHS

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Principal, Mr Rees, has asked me to coordinate our efforts as we transition to Online Learning. I appreciate that this is a stressful and challenging time, so communication is of utmost importance during this transition.
Some important points:

1. Shoalhaven High School’s primary platform for Online Learning will be Google Classroom, supported by email where necessary. Individual staff may choose to extend beyond Google Classroom to use other platforms where this suits the subject area and the skills of their students but NOT as a replacement for Google Classroom.

2. Information about how students access Google Classroom will be made available on Facebook, our School App and on the school website.

3. Students will be invited to individual Google Classrooms by their teachers as soon as possible. In addition, Classroom codes (required to join a Classroom if a student hasn’t been invited) will be posted on the School’s Website, with links from Facebook. This list is currently being compiled and will be available shortly.

4. We are planning on having some work available in every Classroom beginning Monday 30th March. The work posted online will, wherever possible, parallel the work made available in booklet form for collection by students without the resources required to work online. Teaching staff will be expected to be available online to students during their normal timetabled lessons. Students are expected to check in with each of their teachers during normal timetabled lesson times. Staff have been asked to establish which students are present online (via class comment).

5. All work done by students should be submitted online, emailed to the relevant teacher or dropped off at school. This will allow teachers the opportunity to assess student learning and assess the effectiveness of the lessons presented. All work should be submitted or returned by Wednesday 8th April, which is the second last day of term.
This is a challenging time for students, staff, parents and carers. Your understanding and support is appreciated.

Regards,
Mr Hunter
Deputy Principal (Relieving)
